One More Thing About Clarence

One more thing about Clarence…
Flags in Jersey are at “half-mast” today to honor Clarence Clemons, the spirit and soul of New Jersey. The thing is, the E-Street Band…will never be the same. Sure, eventually Bruce will tour again, and someone will play saxophone note for note just like The Big Man did on the record, but there will never be another “him”.
Maybe you have to be in a band to understand the “brotherhood”…”the chemistry”.
If you don’t understand it, you need to see this video. It’s not about the vibrant youth, or young rock stars in their prime, hittin’ it and playin’ tight like a well oiled machine. It’s about what they share. Watch the opening seconds of part 2/2…it culminates with a quick playful kiss just before the band explodes. You can tell from the smile on Bruce’s face that the brotherhood is alive…that there is something deeper than rippin’ guitars and a perfect screamin’ sax compliment. That is the “something” that can’t be replaced.
In the joy, the comedy, and the live musical mastery of the moment you see, don’t be surprised if you don’t also get just a little “misty-eyed”.
